Side Quest 1 Answer. Ask A Question. Browse More Questions. Keep me logged in on this device. Forgot your username or password? In the mission "House of Pleasure", I did the side quest for Slackjaw. Slackjaw asked me to get the combination, then immediately thanked me for getting the numbers because I had already done that part too.
The key isn't in my inventory either. Apparently turning in both quests at once ensures that he never gives it to the player. Oddly enough, reloading a save file just before turning in the quests renders me unable to even speak with Slackjaw.
It turns out that when I turned in the Crowley quest, it put the punch card in the audio player. When I reload my game to any previous save file, the punch card is still in the audio player, preventing me from turning in the quest in any other save files. Last edited by Flarebear ; 19 Jan, am. Took everything,including the stuff inside the vault that Slackjaw had been salivating for months,lol flarebear: I guess bypassing the logical gameflow disables some of the AI responses.
Technically, if you proceeded to the Golden Cat and get the combination after getting Crowley's punch card, you declare the key useless, thus no more reason for Slackjaw to give the key.
LIke what he said, it's for quick access to the Golden Cat, and since you went there your way and made it back,you imply that you know better than using the Captain's Chair. I've just experienced this myself. Got the combination for the safe first, then took the mission with Crowley's audiograph message. So I gave the audiograph message to Slackjaw, and after playing it he thanked me right away for the combination for the safe.
He told me he'll give me the key to the Captain's Chair Hotel but I never got that key. Also: the task " Optional Return the audiograph to Slackjaw" is still listed in my tasks, it's not considered completed. Another interesting question is, of course: what do I miss in that Captain's Chair Hotel? Is there a possibility to mark the side task as completed and maybe get the key via some console command or cheat?

And if that still doesn't help, searching every corner and every thing in sight is a nice backup plan. There are very few places that Corvo can't get into in multiple ways. Do you mean there's a chance to get into the Captain's Chair Hotel some other way? It sure as hell didn't look like it.
Also: how does that help with the bug that the task still isn't marked as completed although I clearly completed it? One missing bone charm doesn't have any effect on the achievements anyway, so Last edited by SonataFanatica ; 7 Aug, am. So I went back and replayed it, unfortunately I had the combination by then. Slackjaw played the message, said thanks and gave me the key to the Captain's chair where there's a bone charm. He went into the spiel for having another job, and I said No just to see if the AI would give me the key.
I got the key. But now Slackjaw won't help me out by eliminating the twins. It seems I will have to replay the whole thing back before I get the combination in order to get the key AND eliminate the twins.
BTW tried everything to get the AI to give me the second task, went to Golden Cat and back to the distillery district to no avail. Can you not get into the Captain's Chair from the Golden Cat map? Corvo View Profile View Posts.

So when going through the dialogue options, naturally I had him deal with the Pendleton twins. If you choose that dialogue option, the game never stops the conversation with Slackjaw and he never gives you the key to the hotel in the Golden Cat rooftops so you can never get the bonecharm there.
The solution to this is to simply exit the conversation with Slackjaw by telling him you'd like to get your hands dirty with Pendletons yourself, then go back to him immediately after, as exiting the conversation gives the game a chance to give you the key.
Then you approach Slackjaw again and ask him to take care of the Pendleton twins for you, provided you already had the code and ran into this problem in the first place. I hope this helps somebody who does not want to totally restart the mission. Per page: 15 30 Date Posted: 23 Oct, pm.
