The Clover Club was named after an all-male salon of lawyers and writers who gathered to drink and discuss politics, literature, and other cigar-worthy topics.
Sings is a perfect music choice to impress a date over dinner, or to give grandma and grandpa a reminder of the good ole days. A mixture of old and new is the secret ingredient to sophistication. These refined libations topped off with some smoldering jazz make a recipe for success. All you need to do is invite the guests and pick up the ingredients. The aviation is one of the perfect jazz cocktails which can help you celebrate any occasion.
It's made out of lemon juice, creme de violette and the amazing taste of Nolet's silver which gives the whole concoction a tangy, sweet and bitter taste. Preparing the aviation is very easy, once you have all the key ingredients. Start with a shaker and add all ingredients with ice.
Shake nicely and fine strain all of it into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry in the end. Often considered one of the best bars in the world, they are also known to create bloody mary. You would know that if you had any true appreciation for music as an art instead of being so closed minded and stuck on whatever plays on the radio.
Who cares what age the artist is or what genre belongs in? Broaden your horizens and live a little. Matt, hardly has beens!
Get with the times my man! Abusing Drugs and Alcohol is neither cool or relevant anymore. Being a destructive dope head is hardly cool! VERY well said, Tom. Is there anything more pathetic? Matt, perhaps you can add something creative to stick in our minds for a lifetime…. Tre doucheness! How limiting is that frame of mind? That was Hilel Slovak. Good points you made though. Ozzys surname is Osbourne. I only know they exist because certain member of the group destroyed my friend for loving him.
Using is only a symptom of the disease. Some of the most creative and intelligent people in history have been addicts. Celebrity or not. This disease does not discriminate.
Matt… there is always a chair for you in the rooms when you get the gift of desperation. Good to know someone else knows their music.. See you soon hopefully. Addiction is so hard to overcome but once you finally make that decision that you want to become clean and sober it take a lot of work and it is so worth it.
For me it was dealing with my core issues losing a Father to suicide at 10months old a brother to suicide 11yrs. Being raped and physically and mentally abused by a stepfather whom was very sick himself. Once you figure out your core issues and find a healthier way to deal with them its not so bad.
As teens growing up, hiding out in ones bedroom experimenting without judgement and enjoying that freedom which fostered into thier success. These pioneer artist are not just survivors of music history, but the survived death. Look at drug addiction deaths in the music industry. And personally in my own life I survived. A child of disco,80,s and early90? Matt your ignorance is appalling. The only shitty part about the list is they all were way better when they were drunk and on drugs.
Darien and Matt your really stupid. The people that think that are not creative so thats why there so naive. Give someone drugs who is not an artist or musician, are they going to paint a picture like Picasso or write a song like Hendrix?
No there not! All cartons of cigarettes have fatality warnings on them, at least in the United States. My real questions are: Why is it that jazz musicians seem to be so vulnerable to excessive drug and alcohol use? Does this have anything to do with being a creative mind, or is that a false concept altogether?
We could go on forever listing famous musicians with drug and alcohol abuse issues. There are studies out that would suggest creative minds and substance abuse are connected and others that would claim that concept a fallacy. I personally think they are connected in some ways.
I feel like creative minds tend to be more susceptible to these sorts of things. Here are some of my theories as to why this is, coming from a jazz musicians perspective:. It seems to me that a lot of people that get into jazz have fairly indulgent personalities.
First off, jazz is a music that is all about self expression. In certain hands, jazz can be a fairly selfish sort of music. Also, think about how much a serious jazz musician practices. I know for me I used to practice ridiculously long hours, lost in my complete obsession.
It takes a certain obsessive personality to practice this music with such dedication. Certainly if you look back at a lot of the jazz greats this was the case for them. I would argue that an artist needs to be indulgent to some degree to really create fine art. I think this indulgent personality for some can trickle into other things like eating, drinking and sex. Before you know it, there is this insatiable appetite for more and more of whatever the vice happens to be.
This leads me into my next theory…. Most musicians that I know have an incredible sense of curiosity. In a lot of ways curiosity is a driving force for an artist. How do I approach this differently? How do I take this to the next level? During his life, he played with many talented jazz musicians, including Booker Little, and John Coltrane. Coltrane himself abused drugs and alcohol for years before becoming sober later in life. Perhaps it was his time spent with Dolphy that influenced that choice.
Frank Zappa was a musician, songwriter, composer, guitarist, record producer, actor and filmmaker. He did it all without a drop of booze, without a single toke. While he influenced and continues to influence many musicians, defining his style was tough. After all, it was drugs that ended his life. His religious beliefs as a devout Mormon his whole life, forbid drugs use. Prince is known for many things, but he is most notably known for broad instrument mastery. The guitar may have been his favorite, but from an early age, he could play 27 different instruments.
