Adding a stock to a pistol would allow it to be fired from the shoulder, which complicates things in the eyes of the law. Which is where the brace comes in. Adding a brace allows for stability similar to a stock when firing. There is no requirement to use the brace as a brace.
It can be used to get a cheek weld. It should not be used as a stock, since that would change the definition of your firearm from a pistol to a rifle actually, SBR. If you want an SBR, pay the tax, and follow the laws. I prefer the latter. But mine started life with the laminate furniture.
There are options to add a brace to the laminate stock, but they are pricey. What I really wanted was all black polymer. Then a buffer tube and castle nut. Together, they would get the job done. But there would also be multiple extra points of potential failure. While they have a nice takedown stock set for the Charger, there is no provision for a brace.
It includes an adjustable stock, which fits the molded-in buffer tube. A quick email to them, and they confirmed that the buffer would work with other stocks, or the SB Tactical brace. They replied that of course I could try. Then I suggested they provide one for an article, and they agreed. How cool is that?
This stock set has quite a few useful features, at a reasonable price. The Charger ships without an included pistol brace.
There is a Picatinny rail segment at the rear of receiver for mounting one. If you are going to purchase the Charger, you will want to include the appropriate pistol brace in your plans. Because despite the use on an aluminum receiver and glass filled polymer chassis, the Charger weighs 5. The Charger is heavy in part because it is a blowback operated arm, rather than gas operated arm like the AR15's.
Blowback arms tend to use heavier operating bolts and springs to safely control the pressure of a high intensity cartridge like the 9mm. Ruger also builds solid arms that give the owner a lifetime of service without fail. The PC9 Charger is no exception to Ruger design philosophy. The thought that went into the PC9 Charger are nothing short of extraordinary-and extensive. I will only list a few of them here. He had mounted an SB Tactical www.
This gun is a chameleon. Break it in half, change the trigger group to the new BX, add any bipod or GripPod, mount a light, change the AR pistol grip to your favorite, thread a silencer or muzzle brake, place iron sights, red dots, or most anything you can dream. You can tailor this gun to your own demands. Weighing around 3 lbs, the Ruger Charger Takedown is easily packed when broken down.
And like the small-caliber guns, such is the ammo. With a gun like the Charger, you can throw rounds, several mags and the gun in your pack, still have room to take a secondary long gun or sidearm with rounds and have the best of both worlds. Others will argue the Ruger Charger is strictly a bench gun—too big to carry and use and not accurate sans bench. I call foul. The gun is as capable as you decide to make it. The combination of accuracy, fast follow-up shots and a suppressor could make you a ghost in the field.
Taking a solid rest always helps, but any practiced shooter can shoot the Charger Takedown off hand well enough to harvest small game. Taking down some small game? Or last-resort defense?
Enter the big plus: rapid follow up shots. The Charger comes standard with a round BX mag. The Ruger BX25 is even sweeter, though standard rounders work just fine as well and are even easier to pack. In a survival situation, will you really care how much noise you make?
Whether or not you want it now, it sure is nice to have the option of mounting sound suppressing devices, though all legalities still apply. Even if silencers are not your thing, the threaded barrel of the Ruger Charger allows for muzzle brakes as well. While it may be difficult to find 22LR ammo at old-fashioned prices anymore, the ammo can be had. No matter the gun you choose, the best choice is preparation.
Having been around for over 30 years, the Glock 19 is the pinnacle of modern semi-automatic polymer handguns. It is the benchmark by which all other handguns are measured. Marlin once claimed their Model 39 as the eldest continually produced, shoulder-fired rifle of all time.
Though that record ended when the Marlin brand was parted-off to Ruger, the rimfire world is anticipating a return of this classic. Thank you so much! Read Less Read less about review stating Guns.
