With the Lounge's troupe members becoming increasingly distracted by personal problems and a threat coming from a wealthy businessman's quest to buy the spot from Tess, the good fortune seems to have abandoned the club altogether. Meanwhile, the life of Ali, a small-town girl from Iowa, is about to change dramatically. Hired by Tess as a waitress at the Lounge, Ali escapes a hollow past and quickly falls in love with the art of burlesque.
Backed by newfound friends amongst the theater's crew, she manages to fulfill her dreams of being on stage herself. Things take a dramatic turn though when Ali's big voice makes her become the main attraction of the venue. Home Movies Burlesque. Burlesque 10 years old It takes a legend Credits Kristen Bell Nikki. Nikki : [Waiting for Tess as she is exiting the club] Tess, we need to talk. Tess : No. Nikki : Yes! Tess : I'm tired, Nikki. Nikki : Well, then you can just listen. We built this club together and, and then, some girl just shows up from out of nowhere, who hasn't even paid her dues - -! Tess : How do you know what dues she's paid? This chick doesn't sing that way because she's had it easy.
Nikki : "They don't come to here us sing, Nikki"! Tess : You know, you're drunk. Go inside and call a cab. Tess : Then leave! Nikki : [Gasps] You'd ruin our friendship over some girl you barely know?
So much for loyalty! Tess : Since when did you know anything about loyalty? How many Goddamn times have I peeled you off the sidewalk? How many blackouts? How many times have I held your head over the toilet bowl while you threw up everything, but your memories? But I will not stand in the back, Tess, you need to fix this Tess : You think you're my only problem? I'm about to lose my club! I'm about to lose the only thing that means anything to me! I have more to worry about than trying to keep you from pouring Tequila on your Cheerios!
Nikki : Fine. I QUIT! It has these huge voluminous sleeves, a train, pleats at the shoulders. This is what I love about vintage, I love the thrill of the hunt.
I also had a Jaguar S-Type, which was a beautiful car, but an absolute nightmare to keep running. Cars will never be made like that again, ever. Plus, they retain their value. I know that when I buy a vintage car, I can drive it and sell it whenever I want for what I paid for it, likely even more if I use it for a photo shoot.
I also just love driving them, I love the patience and skill it takes, I love the way people like to see them out there on the road. Von Teese : Oh yes, definitely.
My newest perfume bottle is inspired by an antique bottle I have, and my lingerie line is all inspired by pieces from my vintage lingerie collection. My entire career is all shaped very clearly around my fascination with nostalgia. My dress line, Muse, is also based on my favorite vintage dresses. I have taken all my most treasured items and made them out of better fabrics and shifted things like hemlines. And anyway, all the big designers go to vintage stores and archives with their team to photograph and sketch based on vintage.

I too have collections of wondrous things and I can absolutely relate to what Dita Von Teese expresses. Concrete bunkers wearing garish , cheap , vile , advertising spattered about.
Our people are doomed to jeans and t shirts or God forbid polypropylenes. Dita , I adore you and who you are. And thank you Lisa Hixs for an excellent article. Truly a stunning woman, refined and elegant on the outside and naughty on the inside. The perfect woman! The film stars Christina Aguilera as a Burlesque ingenue Ali, who gets a chance to be the star of a Sunset Strip Burlesque club owned by a woman named Tess, played by Cher.
Antin never returned to direct a motion picture although he did find success with his commercials. Years later, fans of the movie will still find the trivia just as interesting as it was in Cher actually got the copy of the script via her producer friend David Geffen who knew about the project since Culpepper and his boyfriend Antin had come up with the project on his yacht during a week-long vacation.
Antin switched the big romantic gesture-driven conclusion to a more grounded ending; the original ending was designed as an homage to Pretty Woman and the test audience reportedly found it quite derivative.
