He has lots of books and enjoys studying law, as that is the only thing he is able to do on the ranch since no one will speak to him. When Lennie is in Crooks' room in the barn, Crooks expresses himself saying "S'pose you had to sit out here an' read books Books ain't no good. Crooks uses cards as an example of one of the many things he is not allowed to do on the ranch. My first point which shows sympathy in Hunchback In The Park is that the Hunch back does not fit in a class because of his disability.
This point is backed up by "slept at night in a dog kennel". That quote is showing that he is almost in the same class as a dog, this quote is also showing isolation as he has he can't go anywhere else because of how cruel the society is.
Society is cruel towards the Hunchback because of his disability. He was curious about the friendship of Lennie and George. He wants the people to feel the way that he did when he was lonely, having nobody with them.
He is trying to achieve sorrow and sadness from others. Crooks would work for nothing if it meant communicating with others. Crooks is working on the ranch to try and communicate more and to clear out his problems of loneliness. Crooks wants to live his dream but has no-one to follow or lead him into it so he has to earn it his self. The next character I am going to write about is Curlys wife, her intention on the ranch is to flirt with the other workers and to attract attention from them using her body as her only way of interacting.
Later on in the book we find that she has not got what she has really wanted at all in life, she goes on and talks about how she really wanted to be in the movies and she wanted to be famous. She knows that he would be the only one where she could share her problems that she deals with everyday. She struggled in her society to find somebody that she could consult with. She tried and could not find any other people who felt as bad as her or any women so she was the one who felt most lonely.
I am now moving on to someone who has experienced a different type of isolation than the rest. Curlys wife is not provided with a name because she is a woman and she is the lowest on the ranch along with Crooks and stein beck is trying to prove how women were just a symbol of hard work. Candy, an old, useless swamper, has worked on the ranch nearly his whole life. When Candy was on the ranch, he got into an accident that cost him one of his hands to be replaced with a wooden stick, Farm machinery took away his hand, leaving him money and loneliness.
The novel Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, is about the aspects of loneliness and discrimination. Lennie, a man with a strong heart and poor intelligence faces the challenges of discrimination.
He does so along with Crooks who is the only black man on the ranch and is treated poorly because of it. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird is extremely similar to Of Mice and Men, with all the same aspects heavily noted in the book. During the Great Depression, migrant workers moved around the country looking for jobs. After the stock market crash of , many of these migrant workers moved from farm to farm alone. The theme of loneliness is revealed in the novella Of Mice and Men through the isolation felt by Candy, Crooks, and Lennie.
Steinbeck This means that Lennie coming to his part of the ranch is quite unusual, and takes Crooks by surprise. Crooks shows loneliness qualities when he states the latter quote because his tone lightens into a more happy one when taking to Lennie, as if he made a new friend. All he does is travel with his dog, play with his dog, and talk to his dog. Not very often do you hear that Candy is talking to anyone, he is just a lonely old man with one hand and a smelly dog.
But in the story, Steinbeck gives info about Crooks that proves that Crooks is the loneliest in the book. He was the loneliest because he was very isolated from everyone. John Steinbeck portrays the theme of loneliness throughout his novel Of Mice and Men. Out of all the exceptionally lonely characters in Of Mice and Men, Crooks appears to stand out as the most loneliest.
Crooks is the loneliest in Of Mice and Men because he is wrongly neglected due to the color of his skin, and he rejects people from approaching him, which makes it almost impossible to cure his loneliness. Crooks is the loneliest because he was repudiated by mostly everyone in the ranch due to the color of his skin.
He is the stable hand who takes care of the horses and other livestock on the ranch and is named Crooks because of his crooked back caused by a damaging kick from a horse.
Crooks is the only black man on the ranch and is repeatedly segregated from the other men because of his race. He is not allowed in the bunkhouse or allowed to even play cards with the other men and is forced to sleep in the barn with the animals. This kind isolation would cause anyone to be ill-tempered about the world and the people in it, and Crooks is no exception.
Loneliness is evident for most people at some point in their life. In the novel Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, it follows the story of two unlikely friends, George and Lennie and their journey through the Great Depression.
Lennie has a mental disability that prevents him to think like a regular adult, so he depends on his friend George to protect him, in fact they always stay together. Steinbeck portrays this hardship through several characters throughout the book.
